    • The Summer Boys by Hayley Abbott is a great series. It captures the true emotion of teenage love and friendship. This book tells of a family that is close knit and share everything with each other. These girls experience summer love, jealousy and friendship to the fullest.

These are great books and I highly recommend them. Jamie Fagg Year 8
    • Ruby Winters is a 17 year old girl who lives in Johnnesburg, South Africa in 1976 at the height of apartheid. Her mother owns an art gallery and displays the works of the next upcoming artists. Ruby's father was the representing South African people. The book is suitable for teenagers and it unpredictable and a great read. I would love to read it again and I would recommend it to any teen.   Renee Targett (Year 9)
    • Never expect anything in this book because you'll never guess what happens... Great combination of survival and action.  A pretty tanky book that takes a while to read but the ending is worth the wait.  The worst part is at the end when you find out this book is number 1 in a series, and number 2 isn't out yet.  Brad Lofthouse Year 9
    • Dark Angel Trilogy This is a great series - it is imaginative and original. They are easy to read although some of the words are unusual to understand. The only thing that I didn't like was the ending in the series as the main character .............. (sorry I shouldn't tell you!) Xianne Graves Year 10

    • Marty’s Shadow by John Heffernan has been nominated for CBC of Australia Award for Older Readers 2008.

The story targets a young adult audience, especially guys. It is easy to read and simply told, giving life to the hassles that face so many teens today. Marty is the tough guy at school. His family is anything but happy. His teachers probably hate him. The things that are safe to him, his hunting dog and his friend are vulnerable too. Marty has dark shadows chasing him to the very powerful end of this story.

Heffernan says “Not all families are safe, not all memories are good and not all relationships survive”. The final moments of Marty’s Shadow will leave an impact on every reader. Louise Robinson

    • Another great book from Audrey Howard, full of romance, love and heartache. But don't assume it is like all other romance books. Melinda Cura  Year 11.
    • First of all, I really love this book because it helps you learn about love, friendships and school. It also gives you helpful hints about relationships and how to break up with your boyfriend and how to know it he is "it" or not. I give it 10/10. There are great quizzes too.     Nicole David Year 8
    • Doppelganger by Michael Parker is an exciting sci-fi thriller, first novel for the author. It involves parallel worlds but at the same time both Sydney, but a vicious, desolate city driven by gang wars.

Andrew discovers that the other world has become dangerously close thanks to a new drug, Metsin, developed in the alternate Sydney. So close that kids who die in one world will also die in the other. Andrew has no control over when he moves between worlds, but he soon discovers that his best friend, Josh, is the leader of one of the gangs and is determined to take the rival gang, Inner Station, on. In the process many kids will be killed - which means that their doppelgangers will die in Andrew's world. The only way he can think of to stop Josh in the alternate Sydney is to get to the Josh in his own world - but could he kill his best friend? Even if it means saving hundreds of lives? TRULY EXCITING BOOK! 12+ years

    • This is a play about different characters trying to understand one another, and trying to understand their opposing stages of the one journey. The play is set with three families on a ebach holiday together. Conflicts arise because of different attitudes towards topics such as materialism and life-death situations. The setting symbolises the rebirth that takes place in each character in the play. and the events such as the storm represent the crisis and resolution that eventually comes.

I thought "Away" was a very interesting play as I can relate to some of the journeys being described in the play. It helped me understand peoples transformations throughout their journeys in life. I am glad I studied it in class as I probably would not have read it otherwise.  Natalija Strbac Yr 12
    • A fantastic read! This was my first fantasy book! I could not put it down, resulting in a couple of nights of reading until 1 am. If you love fantasy novels or a great adventure story, you will love this and the great thing is there are 3 books in the series!  Lenore Bradley (staff)
    • In this novel, Raphael Taylor is acquainted with Damon Flood, then he is introduced to a different life style. After a horrific accident Rafael moves away without Damon and discovers a hoobby whilst observing and collecting 'losers'. Everything changes when Damon finds him again. Good story with a twist and unpredictable turns. I also like the different views he expresses.   Jodie Leach Year 11
    • The Stuff of Nightmares by Malorie Blackman
This book is exciting when you read it  - unexpected things happen as you get carried away with the story. Kyle is about to meet his death as he goes into the nightmares of other people, and on the last person's nightmare was of the most unlikely person he could have thought of. An original and intelligent horror novel.

The BEST book....recommend it to anyone!    Tiarne Wright Yr 9
